It’s hard for me to believe that my creative career has spanned over 35 years.
After graduating from Rhode Island School of Design in 1985 with a BFA in ceramics, I co-founded an architectural ceramics company, which produced custom tile designs and installations. Dedicating myself to the structure of a studio-based business, I remained focused on clay for approximately 15 years.
As my curiosity in other materials began to grow, my interest in doing commissioned projects ebbed, allowing my work to become more sculptural and mixed media in nature. Wood, metal, found objects, cloth, handmade paper began calling to me.
While my interest in materials and how things go together is broad, my current focus, is primarily welded steel. Using found and stock parts - nails, washers, chain and many other bits that come my way - I create one of a kind sculpture, art and designs that have an architectural, botanical and mechanical narrative.
Nature & Architecture are my primary inspirat.
